A karate master from India claims to have set a new world record after allowing more than one thousand motorbikes to drive over his chest.

Footage filmed on April 24 in the city of Chennai showed Pradeep Babu lying on the ground as the bikes rode over a plank resting on his torso.

The 23-year-old withstood a total of 1,222 motorbikes in 37 minutes and eight seconds.

Babu is a 5th Dan black belt and teaches karate to more than 200 students in Chennai.

Babu broke a record set by his master in 2009.

The event was conducted by the All India Zen Isshinryu Karate Association.

The achievement was acknowledged and officially entered into Noble World Records.

A 23-year-old Karate Master Pradeep Babu sets a World Record by allowing 1222 bikes to run over his chest in a record time of 37:08 seconds. Pradeep wants to break his master Hanshi Geribala's record which was set in the year 2009. Master Hanshi Geribala allowed 1001 bikes to drive over his chest. It was his master's dream that one of his break his own record.

The record attempt was filmed on the 24th of April in a playground in the southern Indian city of Chennai. Pradeep has been teaching Karate to his students from the age of 12. He is in 5th Dan (designee) Black Belt and teaches karate to more than 200 students in Chennai.

The event was conducted by the All India Zen Isshinryu Karate Association. The achievement was acknowledged and officially entered into Noble World Records.
