Villages in Stoney Middleton in Derbyshire have described the atmosphere as exciting as construction began on the set of "Mission: Impossible 7," which stars Tom Cruise.

Cruise had been pictured alongside co stars in Yorkshire days before filming on top of a train, which has led to speculation that the train track set being built in Derbyshire will lead to a crashing finale as the locomotive plunges tens of feet into the Darlton Quarry.

A planning application also shed light on the Hollywood style set, which asked for permission to use pyrotechnics and to construct a pool at the base of the quarry.

Planning permission was granted for construction and filming between March and June 2021.
