In the Kataban area at least 20% of animals have died in Dhaka's biggest pet market after stores were forced to close during Bangladesh's coronavirus lockdown. About 600 birds and dozens of dogs, cats, rabbits, rats and guinea pigs have died since the market shut on July 1, 2021. However, the government has decided to lift the lockdown for a week on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, the country's second-largest religious festival. These material was filmed 1 day after the official lifting of the lockdown.

The video shows animals at Dhaka's largest Katabon pet market after the lockdown.
