A man has died after taking part in an anti-lockdown rally in Berlin.

According to reports, the 49-year-old had been taken to hospital after collapsing during the protest. He later died in hospital on Sunday (August 1).

An investigation into the death has been launched.

Footage shows police making dozens of arrests at the protest on Sunday.

Thousands of protesters from the Querdenken (Lateral thinking) movement took to the streets of Berlin on 1st August to demonstrate on the anniversary of the movements formation. The group was formed during the first corona lockdown in Germany last year, they are against all lockdown measures within the country and also against vaccinations against coronavirus.

It is estimated that up to 500 people were arrested during the day's demonstrations with a number of clashes breaking out with police and protesters.
