This is the moment two happy hippos were caught on camera devouring massive watermelons in one gulp.

The video of Timothy, 6, and his grandmother Uma, 46, at San Antonio Zoo, Texas, USA was shared in celebration of National Watermelon Day on August 3.

Christina Burges, 37, mammal department manager, said, “Uma, our old lady, she’ll eat pretty much anything, she likes food.

“Timothy, he can be a little more picky at times. Anything sweet, so apples, cantaloupe, anything like that they really enjoy.”

She added that watermelon is a seasonal fruit so the zoo only receives them a few times a year and are considered novel food items for the hippos.

Christina said Timothy and Uma are the only hippos at the San Antonio Zoo.

They spend most of their time together, whether it be playing in the pool or eating their hay in the barn.
