This amazing video shows the moment a talented rugby player became the first ever blind person to score a kick conversion in an official game.

James King, 23, said he knew he had made the historic kick when he heard his Leeds Rhinos teammates screams of joy.

James, who plays in the in the Physical Disability Rugby League (PDRL), has macular dystrophy which is a rare genetic eye disorder that causes vision loss.

He has been competing in the league since 2019, but it is believed that his kick against the Warrington Wire is the first of its kind.

The lifelong supporter said he couldn’t believe he scored the kick and said joining the league boosted his confidence and improved other areas of his life.

James, an Archaeology and Identity student, said: "Since joining PDRL, my grades have gone up, and I don't think that is a coincidence.

"Having that physical hobby, it just rubs off on other areas of you life. I would say if you want to have a go, don't hesitate, just get stuck in."

Leeds Rhinos Foundation described the kick at Sunday's match as "a special moment enjoyed by the whole team".
