00:48:30 hrs. on September 26, 2021 Mount Carmel Fire department was alert to a working structure fire at 12 south walnut in the borough. Units could see a glow from blocks out and immediately requested a second alarm. Units arrived to find heavy fire out the alpha and delta side of the structure on the second floor.
Not long after the house became fully involved with heavy fire showing from all floors. Water pressure issues that have plagued Mount Carmel for decades continued as fire hydrants in the area lacked pressure.
Roughly 15 minutes into the blaze the bulk of the fire was knocked down and crews began overhaul.
It should be noted that Police Ems and fire police helped rescue neighboring residents from their home prior to the Fire Departments arrival on scene.
