Thousands of sheep passed through Madrid city centre on Sunday (October 24) for an annual event celebrating the right of shepherds to drive their livestock along ancient agricultural routes.

Fiesta de la Trashumancia (transhumance festival) usually takes place annually but was cancelled last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Video shows sheep and goats being herded through the streets by shepherds, some wearing traditional clothing and carrying crooks as the sound of bells ring out.
