Rat chewing cable briefly made a Tesco forecourt in Kent cheapest in UK

The Tesco petrol station at Sheerness, Kent is still closed for repairs today (November 11) after a rat chewed through a data cable controlling a petrol price sign and contactless card payments.

This resulted in the forecourt offering the cheapest fuel in the country at an advertised 134.9p for unleaded and 136.9p for diesel, because they were unable to change the price displayed on the sign and at the pumps.

The station is now closed so engineers can rectify the problem and situated next to a wartime mote which is where the rodent is believed to have come from.
