Protesters threw meat bones in clashes with police at a rally against changes to the municipal pension system in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on 10 November.

Clashes -- in which police exchanged rubber bullets and tear gas for protesters' rocks and bottles -- erupted when the demonstrators tried to force their way into the City Council building.

The bill to amend the Organic Law (PLO) provides that around 63,000 retirees who earn more than the minimum wage will start to contribute to municipal social security at a rate of 14%.
