The Belgian Government tightened its coronavirus rules on Friday (November 26) as COVID-19 cases rise despite the measures brought in earlier in the week.

Politico.eu reported that the period for compulsory working from home four days a week will be extended to December 19. From December 20, it will be compulsory three days a week. Rules around mask-wearing will also be expanded.

Ten of thousands of people demonstrated through central Brussels on November 21 to protest COVID-19 restrictions.

Eyewitness footage shows police fire a water cannon towards fleeing protesters who are in front of a burning barricade.

"Riot police with a water cannon truck, followed by a bulldozer, move to destroy a burning barricade on Rue Joseph II after riots turned violent," Newsflare's filmer said. "Protesters are pushed back behind the barricade in the direction of the Belgian parliament."
