Aerial drone footage shows visitors enjoying the spectacular views from the Khao Matsee Viewpoint in Chumphon, southern Thailand.

The Buddhist shrine is built on hills overlooking the Gulf of Thailand towards neighbouring Burma, or Myanmar. There are also small uninhabited islands near the coast.

Tripadvisor reviews give the little-known coastal destination an impressive 4.5.

Chris Diamond wrote: 'Khao Matsee (Must See) is a wonderful place to see the area in panorama. There are a few kiosk style food and dessert vendors, and a coffee shop with a beautiful view of Haad Sairee beach area. The road up to the viewpoint is steep and winding, and well-worth heading up for the spectacular views.'

Curtis B added: 'The view is actually quite amazing, being 360 degrees. It's good to bring a compass or GPS device up with you so you can properly orientate yourself - it gives you a good idea of the fishing and shrimp farming that goes on in the area - plus the vast expanse of date palms and rubber trees in the area.'
