A cool video has emerged of a man trying to make himself heard over the ‘deafening’ roar of cicadas in his front yard in Kansas, US.

In the footage, captured at his home in Olathe on Sunday, the filmer takes the viewer on a journey through his front door to demonstrate the noise created by the bugs.

“The 17-year cicadas are out in full force in KS. Thousands and thousands of them are making their way out of the ground and into the trees. The combined noise is deafening and makes conversations outdoors very difficult. Listen to how masked my voice is,” he later wrote online.
