A former Indonesian Paralympian, Azhari bin Sanusi, makes prosthetic limbs for people with disabilities at his home in Palembang.

The self-taught artisan has been making these prosthetic limbs for nearly 50 years and hopes to rebuild disabled individuals’ self-esteem and pride.

In the clip, he explains that the process of making prosthetic limbs can take up to two weeks, with prosthetic hands being more time-consuming.

The footage filmed on January 24 sees him try on some of the prosthetic limbs he has produced and gives viewers an opportunity to see his workshop.

Azhari holds numerous gold medals from national and international competitions from his days as an athlete.

The Beijing 2022 Winter Paralympics begin on March 4.
