A diver off the coast of South Africa got up close and personal with a gorgeous great white shark.

Hannah Rudd, a marine scientist, captured this footage in September 2019 of a great white shark coming past for a closer look at the cage-divers.

She said: "There are few experiences on earth that rival coming face-to-face with a great white shark. These animals are phenomenal apex predators who deserve the utmost respect from people, but they are not to be feared. In reality, we're the villains, not the sharks - humans kill an estimated 100 million sharks every year, pushing many species to the brink of extinction."
