This 23-year-old female engineer from Gaza is creating a solar-powered device to dry fruit
Hanadi Abu Herbid, a 23-year old engineer from Beit Hanoun, invented a solar food dryer using local materials. It consists of a solar air heater and a pipe for pumping air, especially useful because power outages are not uncommon in Gaza.
The aim was to produce healthy dried fruits and vegetables, free from any chemicals, used in imported food items.
Through social media outlets and attending exhibitions, she markets dried food production. Hanadi hopes her solar food dryer gets recognition especially in light of the frequent power outage in Gaza.
