A spectator who may have thought they were a safe distance away from a beach front in Ireland got a big shock when a giant wave slammed into the coast on Monday 21 February.

The wave soared high into the air as it hit the Blacksod shore, raining down on the filmer some distance away.

Storm Franklin brought dangerous conditions over Sunday night into Monday across Ireland, with severe and damaging gusts in the west and northwest of the country.

The storm is now over in the north and east of the country but some roads in Donegal were still blocked with fallen trees.

Storm Franklin is the third storm in a row to hit the Ireland and the UK, after Storm Dudley and Storm Eunice.
