This elephant appears to wave at a truck full of tourists passing by in South Africa.

Footage captured by Ewan Wilson in November 2019 shows the wild animal lifting its trunk as the safarigoers pass by.

Wilson told Newsflare: "The gentle giant lifts its trunk and gives the lucky safarigoers a wave.

"The animal uses its trunk so smell and smell for elephants are very very important. So in all likelihood, the elephant was smelling the tourists instead of waving, but he was still interacting with us."
