Imran Khan supporters staged a protest outside Stanhope House - the business premises of the current Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sherif's son (May 11) as it was expected high-level emergency meetings were due to be held there.

Pro-government supporters and counter-demonstrators lined the road outside the property, one of over 20 owned by the Sherif family in London, the total worth estimated to be £32 million.

Shehbaz Sherif, who replaced Imran Khan following his removal from office after a vote of no-confidence, is in London for talks with his older brother, ex-prime minister Nawaz Sherif to discuss the economy and the political situation in the country. Nawaz was convicted in a corruption case but was then granted permission to travel to the UK on health grounds in 2019 for treatment though he never returned.

The UK and Pakistan do not have an extradition treaty in place.

Both sets of protesters in a face-off were heard chanting and shouting 'chor' (thief) at each other as they beat pictures of the oppositions' leaders with shoes.

After a small number of protesters from each side came together arguing, police quickly cleared the street to prevent the situation from escalating.
