At least one person has died and several others were injured as an angry mob set trains on fire and clashed with police on Friday (June 17) in several states over the new military recruitment policy, Agnipath.

Angry protests erupted in several parts of Bihar on Thursday over the launch of the Agnipath scheme for short-term induction of personnel in the armed forces, with thousands of young men attacking railway stations and police personnel, setting railway coaches on fire and blocking road traffic.

The movement of trains was affected as agitating protestors chose to voice their concerns by sitting on the railway tracks. Roads were also blocked at many places. During the protest, several vehicles were burnt.
