Bullied girl with huge mouth tumour regains confidence by showing off dancing skills on TikTok
A girl bullied for having a tumour in her mouth regained her confidence by showing off dancing skills on TikTok.
Daniela Ancia Gamboa, 17, was born with a mass the size of marbles on the inside of her lower lip in Davao City, the Philippines.
She didn't know what the ‘painful' tumour was until doctors diagnosed her with a venous malformation in 2019 after good Samaritans gave her parents some funds for a check-up.
The young dancer's tumour became bigger as she grew older, and said the kids at school would make fun of her when it poked out of her mouth so ‘she was always dancing alone at home as a hobby.'
The young dancer said: ‘I was always dancing alone at home as a hobby. The kids at school would make fun of me when the thing poked out of my mouth.'
Daniela added that when the video-sharing app TikTok became popular with teens, she started filming her videos in private until she decided to upload them and received ‘overwhelming likes.'
She said: ‘I also used TikTok when it became popular. At first, my videos were kept private. When I uploaded them, I was shocked to receive an overwhelming number of likes.'
The youngster said her newfound confidence from TikTok gave her hope that she could have a better future without the tumour.
She is now pleading for donations to afford an operation worth 200,000 PHP or a little these than 3,000 GBP that would remove the mass from her mouth.
She said: ‘I really want to have it removed. TikTok gave me hope that I could. I found friends through the app and they helped me have hope that there is a future for me beyond this condition.'
Venous malformations resulted from veins that developed abnormally before birth that stretched and enlarged over time. They could be extremely painful and sensitive. Around one in every 20,000 newborns could be afflicted with the rare condition.
