Nickolas Warner filmed as he found a pool of tadpole shrimp, a type of crustacean that resemble miniature horseshoe crabs.

The filmer places the tiny shrimp in his hand and explains that the species date back to the prehistoric eras.

Tadpole shrimp eggs can survive for up to 27 years. If the eggs dry out they go into a diapause state, once the eggs are rehydrated their development continues.

Man shows prehistoric triop shrimp in the blazing desert of Arizona. They spend their short lives in temporary pools which form after monsoon rains. After mating, they lay eggs and die when the heat dries up their homes. Amazingly, the eggs can survive for decades without water and still hatch!
