Fisherman catches python while it is trying to eat monitor lizard
This is the gruesome moment a fisherman caught a python while it was eating a monitor lizard.
Surat Suksinchai had laid out the shrimp trap in a pond in Chachoengsao province, Thailand on April 12 and was about to harvest his catch when he saw the lizard.
The greedy Godzilla-like creature appeared to have beaten the fisherman to the shrimp in the trap and ate them. However, the lizard was then attacked by a much bigger python also hunting in the water.
When the fisherman checked on the trap, he saw the that both of the reptiles had been caught instead, with only a handful of shrimp left.
Surat, amused by the unexpected incident, said: 'I was shocked since I was expecting only shrimp inside the trap. Instead, I caught a python and a monitor lizard.'
He came back pleased after seeing the net sinking into the water - an indication of a bountiful haul. As he pulled up the trap however, what greeted him were not scores of shrimp, but a python constricting a monitor lizard instead.
The 4ft-long serpent was wrapped around its limp prey, but it tried to swim back into the water after being disturbed. It left behind the monitor lizard, which lay motionless inside the net.
The fisherman then threw the lizard’s body back to the snake and took home his pieces of shrimp for lunch.
