Crowds egg on their favourite fowl during chicken run in UK
The World Hen Racing Championships took place in Derbyshire, UK, featuring dozens of rapid chickens racing against each other.
Footage captured on August 6 shows a large crowd gathered in the town of Bonsall awaiting for the chicken run to begin.
The rules state that the contestants must have both feet clawed on the starting line and no pecking each other, so no fowl play.
Hundreds of spectators egged on their favourite competitors, some of whom, as in one eventful heat, seemed to lose interest in sight of the line while others were more interested in fighting.
In the final, a hen named Maureen ran out as the winner.
The winner’s trainer were James and Nicola Walker from Ashover, Derbyshire.
