Paralympian Oscar Pistorius has been released from jail on parole nearly 11 years after murdering his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

Officials confirmed Pistorius was "at home" on January 5 morning, having served half of his more than 13-year sentence.

Footage from July 2012 shows the athlete training in London ahead of the Olympics.

Oscar Pistorius, the ex-Paralympic champion and South African national nicknamed the "Blade Runner" for his carbon-fibre prosthetic legs, is set to regain his freedom tomorrow as he is released on parole from a South African prison. The Paralympic gold medallist had been convicted of the murder of his model girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, whom he shot multiple times through the bathroom door at their Pretoria residence in 2013. His parole was granted in November 2023.
