Dog run out in front of cyclist. Barking dog runs onto the road

"I was cycling when I heard a barking dog. From the volume of barks, I assumed the dog was outside. I slowed my speed while coming downhill and as I saw the German Shephard charging out of the driveway into the middle of the street, I slowed even more to avoid either hitting the dog or being knocked over. The dog bit my right hand leaving 2 deep puncture wounds. I screamed for the dog's owner to control his animal. The owner sent the dog back inside and provided me with antibiotic cream and a bandage."
