Woman, 54, who was missing for three days found alive after accidentally locking herself in bathroom
A woman who was missing for three days was found alive after accidentally locking herself in the bathroom.
The 54-year-old had just finished showering for her night routine but could not leave the room due to the jammed door knob at her home in Bangkok, Thailand on August 22.
She lives alone in the four-storey townhouse with secure steel gates built around the property so no one could hear her shouting for help.
After three days, the extremely exhausted woman seemed to have given up and finally wrote a goodbye letter to her loved ones who arrived to rescue her shortly after.
Her farewell letter scribbled on the wall using a face cream read: ‘I was stuck on the 22nd and couldn't get out...
‘I've been drinking tap water to stay alive and if it runs out, I'll probably die.
‘I've been screaming for help, but no one could hear, no one has arrived.'
The woman's sister became worried when she did not return her calls and sought help from the police who barged into her locked home.
Her sister said: ‘No matter how many times I try to call, no one answers. I found her car is parked in front of the house so she didn't leave the house. I was worried that something might have happened to her.'
Officers used pliers to cut off the padlocks and searched the premises where she was found inside the bathroom.
She said she survived drinking tap water without food and was exhausted from trying to break the door several times without success.
The relieved woman said: ‘I tried to break the door and cried for help but no one heard me. I used the things inside the bathroom to break through the door but it was so sturdy. I did not have food and drank tap water to survive.'
Rescuers checked the woman's health but she was generally healthy. However, they still took her to the hospital for further assessment.
