On Sunday (October 2) Angmering Raceway held its final car jumping championships. The competition over the past 10 years had become well-known around the globe.

Over a dozen drivers showed guts and nerves of steel as they accelerated their cars to launch their vehicles over a ramp in an attempt to fly over a line of assembled old cars and land safely on the opposite side.

Each attempt was judged on elevation, the reception from the crowd, and of course distance.

In the end, it was Kevin Lording who caught the judge’s eye and become the last ever Car jump Champion.

The race track is due to close later this year to make way for a housing estate.
