Locals have complained after seeing the headquarters for HMRC with all its lights on despite the building being closed.

Footage from November 9 shows 10 floors were illuminating the night sky at around 8 pm.

A resident posted on Twitter: "Hi @HMRCgovuk I’ve just walked past Unity Square in Nottingham and all the lights are on, but no one appears to be working in the building.

"Is there a reason why it’s lit up like a Christmas tree? It seems to be like that every night I’m in the vicinity."

A local MP has asked how this is acceptable with tax payers footing the bill at a time when thousands are struggling to afford living.
