Kingfisher catches, kills and eats fish on a tranquil chalk stream in the UK
Very rare footage of a Common Kingfisher in the United Kingdom. Watch this male actively fishing on this beautiful stretch of pristine chalk stream, based in Hertfordshire.
The Kingfisher times his dive to perfection, catching a small carp. He then proceeds to bash the fish which aids digestion by disabling any sharp fins. Once sufficiently stunned, the fish is then swallowed whole.
It is unusual to witness this behaviour in the wild, from a bird known for its illusive and nervous character.
