Climate change organisation Extinction Rebellion issued a new year's statement announcing their intention to cease disruptive action - as it has not resulted in any meaningful change.

However, offshoot groups Just Stop Oil and Insulate Britain have vowed to continue in their campaign of civil disobedience to bring the end to fossil fuel dependency.

Over the course of four years, hundreds of XR climate change protesters have been arrested, with some imprisoned after taking part in radical non-violent civil disobedience involving glueing hands to roads, road-blocking and mass-occupation of public spaces.

In this footage filmed on 27th August 2021, the grand finale of the 'Blood Money' action targeting financial institutions in the City of London, saw hundreds of activists swarm the Mansion House junction, surrounding individuals atop bamboo tripods.

The group is now working towards a mass gathering of over 100,000 people in Parliament Square on 21st April.
