A fearless kitten climbed up a coconut tree but could not get back down again.

The hapless eight-month-old feline Chingkii was playing in the back garden with her owner when she suddenly scaled the 25ft-tall tree in Misamis Oriental province, the Philippines on February 17.

Chingkii was focused on reaching the top where there was fruit hanging until the height struck her and she appeared scared.

Footage shows the white cat on top of the coconut. In another clip, Chingkii used her claws to hug the tree and slowly make her way down.

Pet owner Kier Policios said: ‘I took her out of the house to catch some fresh air but she was too excited to run around freely.

‘When I turned to look at her she was already halfway through the tree and I was shouting for her to come down. She looked afraid but there was nothing I could do.'

Eventually, the cat climbed down alone as her owners cheered her.

Kier said: ‘My kitten is really funny sometimes. I hope she doesn't do that again. I don't know how to climb a tree.'
