On February 22, 2023, the Saint Anthony of Padua Parish in Singalong, Manila City, Archdiocese of Manila, held a Holy Mass to mark the occasion of Ash Wednesday. The Mass was presided over by Rev. Fr. Bernardo T. Odfina, who also performed the imposition of ashes to the faithful.
The imposition of ashes is a symbolic act that reminds Christians of their mortality and the need to repent of their sins. During the ceremony, a minister or priest applies ashes in the shape of a cross on the forehead of the believer, while reciting the words "Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return."
