Video captured the shocking aftermath of Cyclone Kevin after it blasted Vanuatu on Friday 3 March into Saturday 4.

The storm, which began as a Category 3 and strengthened to Category 4, hit the area from around 18:00 to around 5:00, local time.

In a disastrous coincidence, it followed a 6.5 magnitude quake on Friday and a category four cyclone, Judy, the day before that.

The Pacific nation of Vanuatu has declared a state of emergency following the natural disasters.

The filmer said: "I lived the most horrifying night of my life when Cyclone Kevin hit Port Vila, the capital of Vanuatu."

"All night long it was raining heavily and the wind was about 200km/h."

This video was recorded in the City Lodge hotel and shows a badly damaged kitchen with water pouring from an electricity box on the wall. It also shows flooded rooms and hallways.
