The family of Palestinian Oday Ahmed, who died in Italy's migrant boat shipwreck, shared their grief on Sunday 5 March.

At least 67 people died in the disaster on the southern Italian coast a week ago.

On Sunday 5 March, the Palestinian Authority's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, in Ramallah, announced the young man's death.

The ministry said the Italian authorities confirmed the death of Uday Abdel-Fattah Aref Ahmed from Gaza.

Speaking (in Arabic) from their home in Gaza City, Uday's mother, Randa Ahmed, and his father, Abdel Fattah Ahmed, spoke of their devastation at the news.
