Footage shows a US father was in for a big surprise after his son, Timothy Goldberg, told him that he was promoted to a US Army Specialist during a video call.

The video footage shows Goldberg telling his father the good news while in the company with General James McConville and Sergeant Major Michael Grinston.

General McConville can be seen telling the father in the video: "Hey Dad! How you doin'? I'm here with your son. And he's doing such a great job we just promoted him to specialist on the spot, so you should be extremely proud of what he's doin' for our country and your army."

Pleased with his son's achievement, the father can be then heard saying: "I am very proud, so thank you."

The man whose identity was not disclosed was left in awe when he received a video call on the phone by his son Timothy Goldberg who had just been promoted on an Army Specialist.
