Hunters drove towards animal protestors who stormed a deer hunt, they have claimed.

Wildlife rescuer Carly Ahlen says she was "terrified" after alleging a 4x4 sped towards her and two other protestors.

In a video taken by West Kent Hunt Saboteurs, the vehicle starts revving its engine in a bid to scare the group.

The driver repeatedly drives past the group in an attempt to splatter them with mud in the field located in Crundale, Kent.

Seconds later the animal protestors can be seen running into the hedges to avoid the car on March 21.

Carly said she called the police but claims she was ignored.

She claims they were from the Downland Hunt.

Carly, founder of Gabo Wildlife Foundation, said: "As the members of Downland Hunt casted hounds in open land where hares mainly holdup.

"It seemed as if they had given up on pretending to exercise the hounds but then with the gamekeeper calling in back-up, it was obvious what was happening.”

She claimed: "A 4x4, Suzuki Vitara with two male occupants came speeding towards us and made repeated attempts to drive at us and it was clear our safety was at risk.

"It was terrifying, we had to run through bramble hedges and run cross terrain in order not to be hit by them purposely using the 4x4 in an attempt to run us over."

Downland Hunt and Kent Police have been contacted for comment.
