Police officers take down the bank shooter who killed 5 people, at the Old National Bank in Louisville, in Kentucky, USA, on Monday, April 10, 2023.

The Louisville Metro Police have released body camera footage of the harrowing moments when a 25-year-old bank employee, Connor Sturgeon, was shot dead after killing five co-workers and injuring eight others at a Kentucky bank.

Among the injured was a police officer who took a bullet to the head. The video shows officers Cory Calloway and Nickolas Wilt arriving at the scene amid loud gunshots on the 10th of April 2023.

As the officers approach the building, Officer Wilt is shot, and Officer Calloway takes cover, calling for backup. Once reinforcements arrive, the situation escalates with eight more gunshots before Officer Calloway announces, "Suspect down."

Sturgeon had live-streamed his attack on Instagram while wielding an assault rifle at the Old National Bank in Louisville. Interim police chief Jacquelyn Gwinn-Villaroel confirmed that three of the injured remain in critical condition. Although the motive for Sturgeon's actions is not yet clear, media reports suggest he had recently been fired from his job.
