Video footage from Schoenbrunn Zoo in Vienna, Austria shows endangered Dalmatian pelican offspring, listed as "Vulnerable" by IUCN, growing rapidly thanks to their parents' hard work and a constant supply of fish.

The chicks, seen in the footage when they were only a few days old, are now three weeks old and starting to develop the striking white and grey plumage of their parents. Native to Southeastern Europe and Asia, Dalmatian pelicans rarely breed in captivity. Their population decline is largely due to habitat loss and attacks by humans.

The species is the world's largest freshwater bird, with a wingspan of around three meters.
