Mum's viral hack for lazy parents: Have your baby sit in high chair in the shower
A mum has shared a hilarious hack for “lazy” parents to quickly clean babies and toddlers in a pinch after mealtimes.
Sarah Flynn, 31, went viral with the genius tip, sharing a clip on TikTok of her idea – which has gone viral with over 34 million views and 2 million likes.
In the post, which she dubs “lazy mum hack”, she can be seen opening her walk-in shower door where her 8-month-old son, Leo is in his high chair, fully-clothed.
The mum decided to pop him in the shower following a particularly messy meal, letting the water do the hard work of getting him, his clothes, and the high chair, clean.
As an added bonus, Leo appears thrilled, playing happily and splashing the water around.
“I hate carrying him to the shower all gross after his meals, so I drag the whole thing down there and put him in,” Sarah, who lives in Victoria, Australia, said.
“It cleans him, the highchair and rinses his clothes, too!”
While he appears perfectly safe, Sarah received some negative comments, with one user even comparing it to “waterboarding” the child.
However, Sarah insists it is perfectly safe.
She said: “Leo’s been showered since he was a newborn, so is used to water being on his face.
“He is never left unsupervised and he can breathe. He knows to face his head away from the water.”
Hundreds of TikTok users were equally taken with the simple idea.
One user, Missy, joked: “As a toddler parent, how dare you think of this before me.”
“Lazy? Girl that’s a hack! Definitely going to be doing this,” said Taylor Ree.
Another viewer said: “OMG I thought I was the only one who did this haha winning!!”
Brandon commented: “I love it and yes, I'm a paramedic and worked peds ER. No harm is done here, just a genius parent hard at work.”
“Cleaning, bathing, laundry and entertainment???? Ma'am I think you cracked the code LOL,” Daymi added.
Caitlin said: “Baby washed, laundry washed and high chair clean!! Absolute genius.”
“It gets them desensitized to water being on their head/ face, they’re entertained, and it’s hilarious. Mom win,” said Laur.
