In a bizarre incident that unfolded in Pitkäranta, Karelia, Russia, on the evening of May 15th, 2023, a mentally ill man managed to steal an ambulance from a hospital. The daring escapade, however, was short-lived as the man encountered a series of accidents within just half an hour. Startling footage captured by city surveillance cameras showcased the chaotic sequence of events that unfolded during the man's ill-fated joyride.

According to reports from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the 31-year-old patient, who had left the hospital grounds, spotted an ambulance with its keys left in the ignition. Seizing the opportunity, he hopped into the vehicle and set off. Regrettably, his reckless journey soon took a turn for the worse as he collided with other motorists not once, but three times. Eventually, the chaotic ride culminated in a collision with a pole, leading to the intervention of law enforcement.

As multiple police units arrived to apprehend the erratic driver, he bolted out of the ambulance wearing nothing but shorts and armed with a shovel. Witnesses described a frantic scene as the man sprinted in circles, attempting to evade capture. However, his efforts were short-lived, as a determined police officer managed to bring the situation under control and take the man into custody. Presently, the individual who hijacked the ambulance is receiving treatment in a psychiatric hospital, as authorities work to understand the motives behind his actions.
