Giant Monitor Lizard (Nile Monitor Lizard) found in Bomet County and killed by residents.
A Nile Monitor Lizard wandered into Kapchumbe Village, in Kabema Sub-Location, in Makimeny Location, Chepalungu Sub-County, in Bomet County, Kenya on 18th April 2021 at around 10am. The villagers thought that it is an evil animal and chased it around, hunted it and killed it by setting it on fire. They did this because they have never seen such an animal before. They thought that is an evil animal that have been sent to bring a bad omen to them. Oh sad innocent lost giant monitor lizard! I wish they knew that it was just a naturally existing creature that is harmless to human.
