A tower crane engineer as part of the routine maintenance is spotted heroically traversing a fully extended crane jib above a 74 apartment luxury development known as "One Pentire" currently under construction. The site was formerly the location of the 1930,s Fistral Bay Hotel. The Hotel was derelict for many years to local consternation. Almost overlooking Fistral beach the various plans submitted for site development generated heated opinion in the town. Stephens and Stephens are marketing their project for completion in 2024. Newquay is seeing a stream of major developments of this nature in the town with much larger projects in the pipeline. The new proposed sites are mainly on the footprint of Hotels deemed outdated and unsuited to the current holiday market in the UK.
