Drag queens held a colourful catwalk-style parade marking pride month in Bangkok, Thailand.

Footage shows the young men wearing sparkling women's clothes for the event at the MBK shopping mall on Friday, June 9. They were marking the annual pride month which recognises alternative sexual preferences. The full acronym for the movement is LGBTQQIP2SAA.

A number of events are taking place across Bangkok, which has been known for several decades for its thriving transgender community of Thai 'ladyboys', that integrate harmoniously into society without the kind of conflict seen in the West.

Similar events celebrating alternative sexual lifestyles happen around the world each year in June on the anniversary of the Stonewall riots in New York in 1969. The unrest was part of a struggle for equal rights for openly-gay people.
