STORYLINE:

Three Palestinians were killed tonight in an Israeli airstrike at their car north of the northern West Bank city of Jenin, the first such attack since the second Intifada in 2002.

WAFA correspondent said an Israeli plane fired a missile at a car near the town of Jalama, setting it on fire.

The Palestinian civil defense said its crews, who were able to reach the car to put off the fire, saw three charred bodies inside it but were not allowed by the Israeli forces to remove them from the burnt car.

Ambulances were also not allowed to reach the car.

The three were identified as Mohammed Bashar Uweis, 28, Suhayb Adnan al-Ghoul, 27, and Ashraf Murad Saadi, 17. All from Jenin.

The attack comes as hundreds of settlers went on a rampage in the northern West Bank, setting homes, cars and fields on fire under protection from the Israeli army.

One Palestinian was shot dead by settlers during their pogrom in the town of Turmus Ayya, near Ramallah, and more than 60 vehicles and 30 homes were set ablaze.
