A jealous golfer obsessed with a caddy allegedly shot her and killed another player during a gun rampage on the fairway.

Suspected gunman Nutthawat Donmon, 54, had allegedly become infatuated with Sroisuda Kham-ong, 35, before riding over to her in a golf cart and opening fire at the Mae Klong Dam Golf Course in Kanchanaburi, Thailand, on June 21.

He then shot dead the player she was with Kriangsak Chaiwanarom, 67, before riding away at low speed toward the car park still holding the handgun as he steered the vehicle.

Both Sroisuda and Kriangsak were taken to the hospital, but the pensioner later died from his injuries. Sroisuda is stable and being treated by medics.

Police said they were still searching for the fugitive Nutthawat, who is in hiding. They said the shooting stemmed from a 'love affair' between the suspected murderer and the caddy.

Police Colonel Sarawut Srisangworn, superintendent of Tha Muang Police Station said: 'The attack is believed to have been sparked by intense jealousy, as Sroisuda was friendly with Kriangsak, and the pair often greeted each other when they met.'

Golf course staff said that Nutthawat had often hired Sroisuda as his caddy as he was 'obsessed' with her. In the past few days, they had raised concerns when they saw him visiting the golf course without playing. Instead, he appeared to have been watching someone, they said.

Employees added that on the day of the shooting, Sroisuda had been escorting a group of golfers, including wealthy businessman Kriangsak, at the nine-hole course when Nutthawat sped over to them on a rented golf cart brandishing a handgun.

The suspect reportedly approached Sroisuda at the seventh hole and shot her before turning the gun on Kriangsak and shooting him in the back as he ran away.

The caddy's shaken friend Somphop Khomsue, 63, said: 'I had taken a break from playing because I was feeling light-headed when I heard the gunshots. I later learned that Sroisuda and Kriangsak had been shot. It seems her customer had deliberately targeted them, as he just ignored the other players.

'He often visited and hired Sroisuda to take him around the course because he was crazy about her.'

Nutthawat was seen abandoning the golf cart and escaping in his Isuzu MU-7 SUV jeep.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Kriangsak Buapho of Tha Muang Police Station said they received a report about the attack at 4:30 pm.

They went to the scene with medics to investigate and found Sroisuda with gunshot wounds to her right shoulder and chest. Kriangsak had a bullet lodged near his chin and was unconscious.

Both were taken to the Makarak Hospital, but Kriangsak died hours later due to his severe injuries. His body will undergo a post-mortem examination.

Forensic crime officers said they also found seven bullet shells at the scene.

Kanchanaburi Provincial Police said they have obtained CCTV footage showing Nutthawat's vehicle heading towards Samut Songkhram and later leaving the Bang Khonthi district towards Bangkok.

Police Major General Pairoj Khumpai, commander of the Kanchanaburi Provincial Police, said: 'The Kanchanaburi Provincial Court has issued an arrest warrant for Nutthawat on suspicion of attempted murder.

'We believe he is hiding somewhere in Samut Songkhram or Samut Prakan, where his relatives reside.'

Authorities said they were still tracking down Nutthawat's whereabouts after he had turned off his phone.

Meanwhile, the caddy Sroisuda transferred to Photharam Hospital in Ratchaburi after her condition stabilised.
