This is the bizarre moment a thrill seeker rode a jet ski through a flooded road in the Philippines.

Monsoon rains had hit the capital Manila, inundating roads as rubbish-filled storm drains overflowed on June 18.

As vehicles battled through the deluge, one daring local decided to use a watercraft to traverse the flood.

Footage shows the jetski roaring through the water swamping Espana Boulevard, which is notorious for perennial flooding during the country's rainy season.

On the opposite lane, the locals decided to take a dip in the dirty makeshift swimming pool.

Onlooker Frederick Rosete said: 'I was staying at the dorm of my friend when the rain began pouring. I looked outside to check the situation, then saw there was someone jetskiing through the flood.'

The Philippines and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are approaching their annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms in the afternoon leading to widespread flash floods.
