This is the moment a government photo went wrong when a backhoe reversed into a row of officials.

Footage shows the construction equipment rolling backwards while the uniformed men posed for pictures together in Pathum Thani province, Thailand, on June 29, 2016.

Prasert Kaithong, the mayor of Khlong Luang Municipality at that time, was caught on the chain wheel when the driver unknowingly almost ran the group over while working.

The mayor had to stay for a night at the Vibhavadi Hospital to rest after being treated for a fractured pinky toe bone on his right foot and another fracture on his right calf.

He later claimed that his ‘fortunate escape from more severe injuries was due to protection from a sacred Buddha image he owns'.

The photo-op was done during a clean-up drive project launch to remove water lilies that were clogging canals.
