A pair of adorable white kittens poked out from a hole in a Buddha monument inside a temple.

Footage shows the moggies peeking through the opening as they nestled in the religious statue's left chest chamber at a temple in Ubon Ratchathani, Thailand on August 24.

Buddhist monk Phra Achan Nam Chanarato lured the two felines out and fed them cat food and water before they climbed up again to rest in their special home.

He said: 'Someone released the cats into the temple compound five days before I found them living in the statue.'

Thailand, a largely Buddhist nation, believes that kindness towards animals should be encouraged, with temples sometimes being a safe refuge for stray cats, dogs, and even monkeys that don't have homes.
