As part of the commemoration of the revolution of October 20, 1944, Bernardo Arévalo gave a speech in which he supported the demonstrations and blockades of recent weeks, although on other occasions he has declared that he is not part of the movement.

“The 1944 revolution was carried out by students, workers and the military. Our spring, the revolution of our generations, will be pushed together by the indigenous peoples and their central authorities, the urban and rural workers who with their efforts feed the production of an entire nation, the professionals, the students and all those people who long for opportunity to apply their talents, their energy and their creativity in the country,” Arévalo said.
